About Me

All I'm really trying to do is to live the best life I can, make some friends along the way, and maybe make a difference. I live very simply. I just appreciate all I have and don't want for much. Having said that, I do enjoy indulgences from time to time, like my yearly 2 day retreat. (My profile picture was taken on October 27, ***while relaxing and reconnecting with me.) I am a nurse by profession, which means I am a nurturer to a fault, and sometimes I forget to take care of me. So, I escape from time to time to just "be". Not many can understand that. But they don't have to. It makes me a better person and I understand it. I am a contradiction on most days, and as a Gemini, sometimes hard to keep up with. I don't apologize for being me, but will apologize for how that may make you feel at times. I am honest and I am loyal. My favorite quote is from my favorite film, The Shootist: "I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others and I require the same in return."I do believe people can change under extraordinary circumstances and those circumstances cannot be imposed by another person. So, no, I don't try to change people. I accept them for who they are and hope they accept me for who I am. That doesn't mean I wouldn't want to be a better friend or lover. I just know that expectations can really ruin a relationship.I like a man who is polite and protective, but understands that while I am a strong and independent woman, sometimes I need and WANT to be taken care of. Not in a materialistic sort of way. there's a difference between taking CARE of me, and taking care of ME. He can expect the same in return. I want someone who can share some of my interests, but also introduce me to his. It's okay if we disagree, respectfully. But just as I'll try his activities at least once (twice to be fair in my assessment), I like him to try mine as well. So for my favorites that are kind of non-negotiable, I mean, real deal breakers...; Orders, CSIs, NCIS, Criminal Minds, etc.), and spontaneous drives on beautiful days with the top down and no particular place to go. I'm also a fan of experimenting with food, flea markets, tourist traps, and sleep with windows open and the fire roaring on a cool night. My perfect match will be mature enough to respect boundaries. I am interested in a long term relationship but am in no hurry to get there. I don't give out my phone number after one ***, but I also don't like to engage in endless *** text messages. I pay a hefty sum to Verizon to talk on the phone and prefer that method of communication once we've agreed we'd like to talk to get to know each other a little before we set up a "date".If any of this sounds interesting, why not ***?     If I were to be totally honest here I am not quite sure what I am expecting. I am just trying to figure this out one day at a time after ending a ten year marriage (happily divorced as of Feb). I have two wonderful children who keep me very busy but I miss having time to do things with a partner or adult. I enjoy dining out and movies, seeing new places and keeping busy. I have a lot of great friends where I live and who I socialize with but ALL of them are married so I guess this is how people meet other people these days so I thought I would just give it a try. Honesty is HUGE with me so if you aren't then please don't bother reading any further or contacting me. I am straight forward and mean what I say..reliable in that if I say I will do something it means I will and I am looking for the same .     I absolutely hate drama bs. I've seen enough of it and despise it. I'm easy going,and down to earth. I'm simple. I love the mountains and lakes. Drives to anywhere, hide away in a cabin somewhere. Malls suck.They're too busy and full of fake idiots. Car shows rock! I love classic cars and trucks. My dream truck is a ***Chevy C10 short bed fleet side. I really enjoy farmers markets, flea markets, family /friends cook outs, camping, fishing, music,campfires and so much more simple things. Oh,and I'm not into the long political discussions. I do think our government blows, our current and veteran military are whom I will always respect and honor and our so called commander and chief is a total douche!!! So there ya have it :-)
