I graduated from UA last May with a BS in plant sciences so now I'm an official "hippie/environmentalist/green" person. I tried grad school but learned that 60 hours a week in a lab was nowhere as exciting or fulfilling as I expected. Now I work in a nursery where I get paid to play with plants while sharing my love of them with lots of people - what more could a girl ask for?! As you may have guessed I am "green" in that I recycle, reduce, and reuse whenever possible and generally try to better the planet a little bit every day. I absolutely LOVE movies, both traditional explosion-filled action types along with more unusual and thought provoking ones and everything in between. My music taste also run the gamut from classical to rap/hip-hop/dance except country and opera.-fiction having to do with science, gardening, the environment, history (not war based, more about how "normal" people lived during bizarre times) and philosophy. Although I am an atheist I appreciate a good deal of Buddhist principles including meditation (but in a secular way for me) and living mindfully. I relish a good hiking/camping trip and try to go hiking at least a few times a month. Communing with nature is very peaceful for me and it helps me focus on what is truly important in life. I also learn new things every time I go simply by observing the plants and animals I encounter. On my off days where hiking isn't an option I can usually be found puttering in the yard or working on the house since there always seems to be something that needs attention. I was married a long time ago and also have had a few long term relationships that obviously didn't work out. So now that I've found out what doesn't work I want to find what does. I think communication and honesty are two requirements for a successful relationship along with respect and patience. That patience may come in handy when you realize I sing along with the radio despite being tone-deaf or learning that I talk to my plants (before you ask, no, they don't talk back :) or discovering that I cannot have anything resembling a serious/intelligent conversation before 9am (I personally believe that those chirpy morning people are a sub-species of humans and should be studied and put on their own island somewhere so the rest of us can ease into our days without their incessant nagging). To further that idea of being honest there is something you should know about me, I have a chronic pain condition. It's neither fatal nor communicable but it does impact my life and so, thanks to the lovely trickle down effect (it didn't work economically but it seems to work just about everywhere else) it does effect the lives of my loved ones. The impact is normally accepting when I need to cancel plans due to fatigue or pain and understanding why I can't eat certain delicious foods. In case you're curious (and/or a friend of google) what I have is called fibromyalgia. Despite this slight inconvenience I am a "glass half full" kind of person and generally am quick to smile and laugh (especially at life's little idiosyncrasies). I have learned that mind over matter decreases a good amount of pain and I try to focus on the good things in life.Well that is a general overview of me so feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fantabulous day!
