About Me
LOL I work full-time as the Executive Director of a child-advocacy not-for- I own two businesses - an organic farm, and a custom furniture business - as well as several rental properties. Outside of those professional commitments, I serve on, or am a member of, 15 Boards and committees in the area, and attend events for, and volunteer with, most of them. As you might imagine, free time is pretty hard to come by with all of that going on, but I hope to find the woman who will enjoy being a part of that life, and who will allow me to be a part of hers as well. I've always heard how women grow up and realize that the good guy they tossed away for the "bad boy", is the one they should have hung onto all along. Well, I'm 38, and while I'm not going to be all negative, I can tell you that I'm still waiting for far too many women my age and older to come to that realization. If you haven't yet figured out that a nice guy is who you want to grow old with, PLEASE do NOT contact me. Here is a section of factoids to which I will add as I think of them:* I am NOT a morning person* I am Mennonite* My "love language" is physical contact.* I've been divorced for a few years, but my ex and I are best friends. * A meal is not a meal without dessert!!* I can recite 15 solid minutes of Shakespeare from what I memorized back in high school and college. * I absolutely believe in love at first sight.* I will NOT turn you down if you jump me on our first date. Don't use that as an excuse to not go out with me a second time.* I can find a way of recycling or re-purposing just about anything you can think of.* As much as I enjoy cooking and baking, evidence has shown that it is nearly impossible for me to follow a recipe.* I give myself a weekly allowance.* It is not possible for me to go past a child's lemonade stand without buying a glass of it, and giving them a tip "for good service".* If you are a classically-trained pianist, or just a good piano player, be prepared for a marriage proposal.* If you speak French, don't do so in my presence until we're reached the point in our relationship where you're ready for me to rip your clothes off and throw you into bed.I enjoy the life I've built here, and it would be nice to find someone with whom to share it. If you're interested in applying for the position, drop me a note. Oh, and for what it's worth, I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea. That's fine. None of us are. But if we start talking and then you just drop off the face of the Earth even though you still log on here regularly, I'll tend to obsess over what I might have done or said or not done or not said that was apparently wrong, so your help in not doing that to me would be sincerely appreciated. :-) And also, if you're not assertive enough to be the first one to send a note, or you don't feel comfortable enough to do more than keep sending notes back and forth on here for days or weeks on end, it's probably not going to work. Thanks so much! I've never been a traditional dinner-and-movie kind of dater. I prefer doing things that are going to SHOW us as much about the other as TELL us. How about grocery shopping at 2 am? Or spending a Saturday building a chicken coop? Let's find something that we both enjoy doing, and then do it together so that the real us can show through. Now THERE is a first date!
