About Me

I'm a relatively mellow twenty-something trying to figure out life. I have an unending passion for public health, and work on a translational research team studying communication based ways to prevent tooth decay in low income children. I'm starting a nursing program in January as a clinical complement to my social science degree and jumping the fence on grad school for an MPH. It's pretty inevitable that it'll happen, just not right this second. No, I'm not a degree collector, I just need a spectrum of education and training for what I want to do. I gotst a big sexy brain over here. ;)Let's see... I like it...most days. It irks me though how many people up here don't have time to say 'excuse me' or 'thank you' though. It's just engrained in me. The two things I always wear: my manners and my crows feet. Social graces are just sexy to me, I suppose.I'm a major coffee drinker. I have several tattoos - all able to be covered when needed - and a nose stud. I'm a sucker for cheesy 90s movies that make this generations' teenagers go 'huh? why does that phone have a chord? and how does it take pictures?' I also loooove flamenco music, and most music actually. I even listen to some old country every now and then. ...And I sort of secretly (okay, not so secretly) just love a really thick beard on a man. rawr. hehehe. ;)I'm a relatively busy person who prefers hanging in the yard, grilling, and drinking a beer over going out to the bar or the club. I have a loud laugh, a big smile (and butt meant for twerking), and I know almost everything you need to know about healthcare reform. If you have questions about how it'll affect you, I probably know the answer. If I don't, I can find it. Feel free to ask me what you want to know! :) I'm kind of fond of the casual first date. I'm pretty low key and easy to please, so coffee and a walk is good to me. What matters more than anything for me is just doing something we can both be comfortable with, something that doesn't cost a lot of money, and that can give us a chance to actually have a conversation and have a good time with each other.

Let's keep it simple. I like to have a good time in life, and to do that I work hard - which I also enjoy it. I'm positive yet realistic, straightforward and reasonable, active but not flighty. I'm not sure if i'm looking for someone to be able to keep up or to slightly slow my pace down, either way i'm tired of the same old dating scene and definately not settling. I'd rather not play around - if you want play its not here. I'd like to meet someone who adds to my life as well as the flip. In the mean time I'm still enjoying life, surrounding myself by conscious/intriguing/amusing/loving/real people. Two turnoffs which I dont have much patience for are being conceited and closedminded. Open to suggestions from a casual drink, dinner, coffee to a concert, art exhibit, or walk.

"If you ask me what I came into this life to do, I will tell you: I came to live out loud." Emile Zola.I am a 27 year old music lover. I can have a good time anywhere...even if I don't know anyone I'll probably make a bunch of new friends and then we can all have a great time. Anyone who knows me thinks that Zooey Deschanel is actually portraying me on New Girl.I'm a foodie...if you can't open yourself up to fun ethnic foods like Sushi, Thai, or Indian...then you should! I cannot go without. I like to have fun playing around in the kitchen with a bottle of wine and my spices. I take great pride in my Coconut Curry. Also I am a huge fan of dinner parties, dressing up, and gettin silly.I spent some time as the singer in a fun dancy rock band and hope to do that again sometime! We were called Crazy Cat Lady, which is weird because I am more of a dog lady. I like to watch dog videos on YouTube. I'm not afraid to share that.I have 2 rescue dogs. Must. Love. Dogs. Dogs in ya face. My dogs are really strange. In a silly fun way. In an awesomely silly fun way.I laugh...a lot. Mostly with you and not at. I swear. I'm a huge fan of witty banter and "How I Met Your Mother"-like hanging out. I love being with my friends and would do anything for them. In my free time I like to seek out new music. I have an ever growing collection and I am very proud of it! I am most into dream pop and upbeat electro-alterna-rock. I'm an audiophile so when asked what my favorite band is I get excited but also stressed because it is gonna take a lot of time figuring out who I'm most into right now. I enjoy music that keeps me pumped up while at the gym. From my musical theatre background I enjoy music that I can really throw my vocal chords into. Don't get my wrong, I like my fair share of hip-hop and rap (love me some old school digable planets). But don't expect me to sing along to that because I know I sound ridiculous when I try to rap.I have a music blog. I also have a blog where I post sneakily taken pictures of ridiculously amazing facial hair finds and talk about how awesome and/or ridiculous these people must be. I guess you could call me the mustachio bandit. My Myers- I think that says a lot. Buffy all the way.As far as my goals and aspirations, I want the obvious: love, comfort, a family, monetary stability. I want to travel the world. Career-wise I always thought that I would end up performing for a living. However, now that I've graduated and spent some time in the mean old real world I find that while I love to act, it does not have the stability that I want. Although it's what I love, singing and acting are too up in the air. I love to sing and will do that no matter what. I have dabbled in the social networking field but now I work for a wonderful company that produces and supplies some of the most top quality linen. As long as I get to wake up with my 2 dogs with a smile on my face because I excited to start my day, I'm happy.Just putting this out there, I've never done this whole online dating scene before. I am not against it, I just figure what does one have to lose. Everything else happens online anyway.Yes I am a liberal lady in my political views but please...please don't message me if you plan on being gross and creepy. I'll tell you now, I won't respond. Well it would all depend on the person. I'm sure we would find something fun. Something that is low key and without pressure. I've had some great times bowling, at a museum, going on a tour of a brewery, ooh la la a wine tasting, eating at some outdoor cafe (weather permitting). It all depends on the situation. I'm open to suggestions.
