They range the fields and rove the floods And climb the mountains crest For theirs is the curse of the Gypsies blood And they know not how to rest If they just went straight they would go far For they are strong, and brave, and true But they quickly tire of the things that are And they want the strange and new As each one says, " could I find my proper groove What a deep mark i would make" So they slash and chop But each fresh move is only a fresh mistake Still he strips and runs at a brilliant fitful pace But it's the slow and plodding ones Who win in the life long race And as each one's youth has fled And each one's prime has past That he stands alone one day, with a hope that's dead In the glare of the truth at last. He has failed he has failed he has missed his mark And done things just by half Life has played a great joke on him And now is the time to laugh, ha ha, ha ha He is of the legions lost, and he was never meant to win He's a rolling stone, and it's bread in the bone He's the man that wont fit in. i want this poem on my gravestone. I might be the guy that every Mother warned their daughter about. Im a non conformist still at 60, and i come with one hell of a back story, but Don't we all?
