I like to go to the gym and play sports...mainly softball and basketball. Now this thing won't let me update my status because it thinks that it's to short.

First and foremost, I have a sneaking suspicion that the 'girl next door' doesn't actually live next door!! Can you believe that?!?.A little something about me...I have a slight addiction to learning new things and often find myself absorbing knowledge that could never be useful. Why? I'm not entirely sure, but I guess if I had to answer, I would simply say, 'Why not?". And why would I ask 'why not'? Well, because I don't have a thoughtful response to the initial question, I figured it best to deflect back to you and give you a taste of your own medicine! Oddly enough, I read a lot but don't care much for books...I mean, they come in handy when I have a few square feet of space that isn't occupied by the rest of my belongings but outside of that they mostly hold my priceless, antique dust collection. Really though, it just seems I'm far too concerned with current events, politics and international affairs...all available via the Internet...to be able to devote time to the Harry Potters and Hunger Games of the world...but certainly no judgement if you do.I fancy myself a nice guy with no known enemies. I would have to say that either everyone I know really likes me, or they never tell me what they truly think, lol. Either way I feel good about myself. I've also been known to be sarcastic when the planets align and the tide is low.I attempt to approach life in an easy going manner. Without a doubt that is always easier said than done, but I think it's important to recognize what you can and can't change and roll with the punches, so to speak. I prefer to learn from other's mistakes and never make them myself. I have to admit I'm only marginally successful with the latter point.I think the success of a relationship has as much to do with finding the right person as it does with timing. Unfortunately I wasn't born with that knowledge but acquired it the hard way. I'm not sure if love at first sight really exists, because I don't think you can truly love a person's physical appearance (maybe lust at first sight?) but I do think there are just undeniable connections that some people make...so maybe it's 'love at first conversation'.I think 'flaw' is a very interesting word that has a unique meaning...at least to me. I've come to believe that what many people view as their own 'flaws' are really just the characteristics that make them one of a kind. Ultimately those flaws are the qualities your significant other falls in love with. For better or for worse, I tend to NOT be compulsive. I am calculated and analytical, maybe even to a fault. While my subjective opinion of that particular, uh, flaw, is that it comes in handy and is generally positive, my objective opinion is that it certainly has its drawbacks.I've often been called an old soul, which I've always proudly taken as a compliment...until recently. Seeing that I just turned 30, physiologically I think I may feel as though my body and age are catching up to that proverbial soul. Hopefully that is just me being melodramatic. And, now that you've learned a lot about me, but still know virtually nothing, I will give you the sales pitch... I spent 4 years in the Army as a Military Intelligence Analyst and was fortunate enough to have an all expense paid vacation to Kuwait and Iraq. What can I say, I've been spoiled. I certainly enjoyed what I did but as I mentioned above, I still think there are steps that I can take to help accelerate my career growth...so I'll just have to see where that takes me in the future.I don't get home as often as I might like, but my big, incredibly dysfunctional family still means a lot to me...though it's not as glamorous as one might think. With that said, I would have to say I enjoy playing sports more than watching them so it's very unlikely to find me tied to the TV during football season.A couple odd points about me...assuming you think the rest were normal...Outside of my love for cheese, I'm a bit unique in that I don't really have any 'favorites'...that is, I don't have a favorite movie or a favorite song or really even a favorite genre of film or music. If there were particular genres of music that I've never really been able to get into, it would have to be opera and death metal. Outside of that, I listen to most anything. Movie wise, I'm pretty open...comedies, action, sci-fi, romance, documentaries, etc.I would say that I love water, not just to drink, but as it's found in nature. There is just something so captivating about an element that is capable of being so peaceful and serene in one form and then display such destructive power and might in another. In fact, I have, on occasion, just sat in the rain for no particular reason other than to experience mother nature. Don't worry, you can use my umbrella.Lastly, I'm a certified open water scuba diver and I hope to put those credentials to use a bit more in the future. Pretty open here. Whatever makes both people comfortable. I think 'doing something' might be the best thing, as opposed to something mundane, like going to a movie. Just something that allows us to get to know each other, even if it's just lunch or coffee.
