There is an old story that goes something like this:A young cat and an old cat were in an alley. The young cat was chasing his tail round and round, while the old cat just watched. Finally, the old cat asked the young cat why he was chasing his tail. The young cat stopped and replied, "I've recently returned from cat philosophy school where I learned that happiness is located in my tail. Therefore, I'm going after happiness." The old cat smiled. "Well," he said, "I haven't been to cat philosophy school, but I have learned through the years that happiness is indeed located in my tail. But I also learned that if I just go about my business happiness follows me wherever I go.These days I'm the old cat. I'm pretty laid back, and I don't let much bother me anymore. I'm updating: I changed my hair color from "red" And at 53 there is grey that I don't try to cover up. My picture with the great hair is about ***years old, but is one of my favorites. My profile picture is new, and I hate the butchered hair....but people have given me a hard time for not posting a recent picture, so there it is.I strive to be open in my communications, attentive to the needs of those around me, and when I'm with someone I try to always give them my full attention. I've read lots of profiles on these dating sites and everyone seems to be honest, caring and loyal; I've yet to find one person who admits to being an ass anytime. :-) Well, I'll admit it...I can certainly have my moments of being an ass--and I think if we are really honest we can all say that :-). In fact, I can say that in my earlier years I had my moments of being quite an ass; many times I've behaved in ways I'm not proud of--haven't we all? We are all human and we make mistakes, but what we do with those mistakes is most important, I believe. What I think I can honestly say is that when I'm an ass I attempt to reflect on what made me act that way and explore those feelings and where they come from. I try to understand and embrace my dark side so that I can learn to be a better person everyday.I don't allow negativity into my life, and you won't hear me badmouthing others--especially ex partners, for I love them best. We just grew in different directions--developed different desires. I rarely watch news, listen to talk radio, or watch reality tv--waaayyy too much bad energy and I can't abide getting pleasure from other's misery or *** do my best to always live in the moment. The past is over, and the future may not come--this is my mantra. Not that I don't plan for the future; I just don't live for it......and I 'm the kind of person that would enjoy a long philosophical discussion on just what that might mean ;-) I am busy--I care for an elderly parent that lives with me and I have a daughter and her family nearby, as well as some business interests in another state--but when I make time for someone that person has my full attention, and my family respects that.I selected the option for 'wanting a relationship' but honestly I have no expectations; what comes along comes along. I'm open to most anything, really. Ft. I'm quite happy (and plenty busy) on my own and with my family, but I do miss the intimacy and will embrace it when it comes my way again. I miss sharing special moments-- I'm handy around the house and with tools, but at the same time I can drop them, put on a dress and head out to the theater. I'd rather cook than fix a toilet, but I can do both. I'd rather garden than fix your computer, but can do both. I was in higher education for 17 years and just recently quit. My career had evolved into sitting behind a computer and I had had enough--and my body had certainly had enough. I have also been a waitress, a factory line worker, a gardener and a radar repairer in the Army, so I can relate to a wide range of people. I am now looking forward to becoming the active, outdoor person I used to be.I'm a complex, interesting person and I hope you are too. Don't really care as long as there is interesting conversation.
