To me dating is a step towards something greater. The first get together doesn't have to be serious or formal; however, if things click then I want it to progress. I like to think it in a way where there is meeting a person, seeing a person, and dating. Sometimes people just start to date, or take it more slowly. Whatever works for you is good for me, but you must have the goal of wanting to meet eventually.
