I think the first date should be getting to know each other. I'm not opposed to dinner and a movie, but the movie can be kind of awkward. I'd rather have dinner and go do something together like grabbing a coffee, mini golf, motorcyle ride, horseback riding, bonfires, etc. Heck, even grabbing a beer and shooting pool works for me!
