My heart is on the trail between jagged, snow-capped peaks and rushing waters. Call me a determined optimist. I believe passionately in leaving a better world. I am spirited, smart, inquisitive, happily feminine, fit, passionate, and active. I’;Be joyful despite the facts." Among the identities I’ve worn and enjoyed are journalist, Congressional policy aide, and teacher. Being "mom" has been my most cherished role, and though that work is largely done, the pleasure of independent adult sons remains. For me, one kind of perfect day is a hike during the river roar of snowmelt just as tender lilies shoot up through the last glints of winter. I carry paper scraps and scribble notes for stories and poems. Then they go through the wash forgotten in my pockets but somehow, I remember key words. And pictures are indeed worth a thousand, so I *** clouds above tree line and between ridges. Share with me what brings awe to your life. I seek a co-conspirator for adventures, romance, comedy and laughter, delight, and trying on ideas. We all have tall wish lists. A few on mine: I want you to be smart, passionate, emotionally available, adventurous, kind, interested in personal growth, physically fit, and able to see the humor in life. Ideally, we are both lifelong learners. But not perfect ;-)I'm really looking for a best friend with whom I share playful, intellectual, physical and emotional chemistry. In my thinking, best friends do things together--apart, and sometimes separate things side by side. Though I can and do wear velvet gowns and enjoy a dressy night out--see photos, I'm most comfy in denim. I’m a passionate explorer and am hoping to meet someone with passions and experiences both similar and different than mine. There are many places and things I’ve yet to experience. For example, I'd enjoy learning to snowboard or ski. I am comforted standing next to glaciers that make me feel small. If you lose me on the trail, chances are I’ve found the perfect womb in an ancient tree to nest in.If you have a kayak or canoe, bonus points. If you can reteach me to flyfish or might learn with me, more bonus points. I adore being read to. Semi-sweet chocolate or a hand-picked bouquet will delight me. I love the city, too--plays, music, comedy, fine dining, etc. Yet if I had to choose between mountains and skyscrapers, I'd stop in the city on the way to or from the peaks. I can live in either the wilds or the city, and like to be reasonably close to both. Travel is a must here and there--that's part of the experience v. stuff.Being playful brings balance as I make my living with my head. Of course, all the usual apply. I cry at movies where the dog grows old and dies. You’ll find me enjoying all varieties of film, and I’m not above renting children’s movies that make me laugh. History fascinates me. I can root for the Seahawks win or lose. Good thing, huh?I’m very much a grown-up and still like stuffed animals that squeak. Though I'd love it if you lived next door already, I cannot be flexible on those four "chemistry" qualities, so I'm open to a wee bit of distance, as my work and life have some flexibility.--depends on cards in the next hand.I wish you the best. Let's chat about favorite people and journeys, walk and talk, and be ready for the possibility of magic. At the same time, I'm always open to new friendships--so "no pressure" on a first date is important.

Life is busy, and good, but there's room for more!I'm comfortable with my life at this stage, so not in any particular rush to find someone. But, it would be nice to find to share both the small and monumental parts of life with, as cliche' as that sounds. But first we have to meet and see what happens! I have a job that sometimes consumes a bit to much of my time, some wonderful friends, do some community work [volunteer, not court appointed!). But it would be nice to have someone to share things with again: hit a museum, wander around with my camera, day trips, a weekend getaway... Try some new things. Or stay home with a cup of coffee and the newspaper. I have a little black dress or two, but probably prefer jeans and flip flops. I have a sarcastic sense of humor, sometimes a little twisted. You either like it or you don't. I'm also a bit of a flirt (in person and via text/email) I think the latter form has been interpreted as needy or pushy, or worse, but its not. I doubt most of us fit into the tiny tidy categories meetville asks us to choose from. Having someone special would be nice again, but you have to start somewhere. It may sound cliche', but it would be nice to have someone to someone to laugh with, travel and share things with, both the monumental and small. Someone to hit the road with, or walk the streets with to explore new places, or maybe just read the Sunday paper with too much coffee. And of course share mutual interests, and weave in each others hobbies, interests, passions as possible. And of course a best friend and confidant. I'm hoping to find someone in or near DC or in my commuting corridor.I have two cats. If your allergic, I'm probably not for you. And I go to church regularly also. I guess I wouldn't expect you too, but it is part of my life.I'm usually the one taking the pictures, so my photo "self portfolio" is small. Somewhere casual, drinks, coffee or a walk?

Woman. 53 years old. Zodiac sign: Scorpio.
Looking for: man. In age: 50-60
I love to read and write, kayak, hike, walk in nature, travel, go to the beach often. I used to garden quite a bit, but haven't done much since moving from CA to NC 8 years ago. I have a fun and zesty personality. I'm fond of animals, flowers, sunsets, good books, good movies, good restaurants. My goals include writing a book or two or three, spending more time traveling, finding a gentleman who is highly trustworthy and loves to enjoy life too. Someone who laughs, smiles, is positive! My sense of humor can be offbeat. I am creative but a good procrastinator too. I like cooking but not cleaning. Music: bluegrass, country, classical, pop, 60s, Mama Mia type, opera, Jimmy Buffet type etc. Well this is a hard one. What if the gentleman is very boring? Then I'd want to end it right away. Assuming he is not, we would meet for a glass of wine and then discover that we have so many mutual interests as well as physical attraction, so we decide to order dinner. We have a leisurely dinner outdoors with privacy and learn much about each other. Neither steals the conversation. I find that the gentleman sitting across from me is well educated, has a great sense of humor, is attractive, has some fun stories to tell and I can tell that he enjoys my company and finds me attractive and interesting. We learn a lot about each other. We both share our faith together and pray before our meal. The evening goes so well that we decide to go to a concert together or kayak weather permitting. Or perhaps a hike or picnic. We hug good-bye and he kisses me. I swoon.
