A first date should be to determine if there is chemistry or not. Lunch is good. It keeps expectations within reason. And if it is unbearably awkward, it's only lunch. Second dates should be longer. Once you know there's chemistry and you decide you want to get to know a person better.

A good idea for a first date is either to meet for drinks/coffee and/or dinner and just talk and get to know each other to see if there's a connection there....If the weather is warmer, it's nice to take a walk in a park or on the beach to just talk and get to know each other...going to a movie isn't a great first date idea because then you don't get to know each other....I also don't like a guy who's too aggressive on the first date...I like to not to rush into anything and I feel taking it one step at a time is better than rushing into something with someone you don't even know well.... However, I am looking for a long-term relationship so I don't want to take it too slow either....
