About Me

So, I am a nomad, or rather, I was a nomad, and am still one at heart...I am opening a large business in a small town, and thus, I am more sedentary than I have ever been before in my life. I do not get to meet many people except on a business basis at the moment. This hinders my love of actually getting to know people.I struggle with the idea that somehow I can translate myself to a written form. Perhaps we all do...how can I convey my passions, my desires, my lust for knowledge, for self progression? But, I suppose this is not the medium to be doing such, but rather just a method of finding a person to be able share this, to truly communicate with. However, I guess I should do my best to quantify my life, if I really want to talk to someone on here.As I mentioned, I was a bit of a nomad. I have traveled a ton as an anthropologist, and an archaeologist. I have done volunteer work across the world, as well I have been lucky enough to have had a few paying gigs in there to keep me from starving. I love learning new cultures, new languages...trying the local beers, and hearing the local music. I love the world and all that it has to offer. Thus, I hike, I canoe, I camp, I find peace in solitude in the most remote parts of the world, as well, I find adventure and spirit in the most congested cities. I have a deep need to push myself, and advance the way I think. That said, I am in a new chapter of my life: I have now been in the same spot for over two years, and I am working hard to create a business, that is not only economically viable, but socially, economically, and environmentally responsible. Not to mention, fun... The sacrifice I have made here, is my wanderlust, and my ability to meet new people. So, hence, I am writing here. Anyway, I don't know if I summed up my "goals and aspirations" the way the site suggests, but hopefully I conveyed something of myself here. oh, and as far as music, I truly enjoy anything that someone took pride, time and effort into producing...and not just generic thoughtless fodder for the mass.* as a side note my hair is now short if that makes a difference...and the faux-hawk was for a charity event... First date...well, doesn't that depend? I mean, yes, whoever I would be taking on this hypothetical date I would be meeting for the first time and thus, we would need a basis to talk to, such as lunch or dinner...but that is where the planning should stop in my eyes. The most beautiful encounters I have had with people have been spontaneous, and organic. If I connect with someone, finding an endless string of common activities should not be hard. A wonderful date could be as cliche as the dinner and movie, or it could be lunch and then chess and tea...or it could be a night of sitting outside and dancing to a radio beside a fire. If I connect with someone...that first date, well, it gets to be special not because I planned it that way...but because I would be sharing something. But perhaps, I am too idealistic....
