About Me

Although I have grown accustomed to being alone (in the sense of not being with a soulmate) and am content with my life as it is, I do find myself imagining what life would be like with that special someone. I think those of us who are long divorced (7 years now for me) have such better insight into the way things should be and what we want/need. When you are involved in a marriage that doesn't work, you are often the last to know or admit it. It isn't until long after it ends, when you are on the outside looking in that you see the dysfunction that was. Too many people succumb to the impulse jump right back into something just to fill the void, never allowing time to heal and therefore never learning from their mistakes. Probably why the divorce rate is higher the 2nd time around. I have such a deeper appreciation for the simpler things in life now.; If you don't get what I am talking about, we are probably not a good fit.Love to cook, especially for others and/or together. Also love spontaneous travel. I own my own business and have been able to do a lot of traveling with my job. Lived in Europe on two separate occasions (France and Germany). Big Bears and Cubs fan and would love to be with someone that shared these passions.– I know. Oh, and the yellow lab in the photo is usually the center of attention around my house - you would of course need her approval :) Just a few more details that I feel are important. I place a high value on emotional intelligence. I need to be able to connect with someone on a deep level emotionally. Someone who has a keen sense of who they are and why they feel and act as they do. Someone who is deeply introspective. I need to be able to make this connection in a very intimate way. I want to be able to look across a crowded room when we are at a party and feel as though we are standing together. I don't want to give the wrong impression either. I don't sit around all day contemplating the meaning of life. I have a silly side and would be pretty embarrassed if anyone saw the way I talk to my dog when no one is around. This is one of those traits you expose people to gradually. :) Education and class are important to me. Although I certainly recognize one's posession of a 4 year degree does not mean they are "smarter" than someone who did not graduate or guarantee they won't say "I seen", but in a venue like this I choose to make it a criteria simply as an odds play. I will not be impressed with gratuitous photos of your cleavage as it demonstrates (in my opinion) a lack of class and a low opinion of one's intellect. For sure I appreciate a nice body, I just don't appreciate those who flaunt theirs putting it before all else. I am not a Neanderthal and I find the overt pandering of one's body to be low brow. I am looking for a relationship that will last a lifetime, therefore it is important to seek someone that shares my values, passions and interests. I do not write these things to offend anyone - just playing the odds here. No one has time to personally get to know everyone on this site, right? just meet for a quick drink - I think we will know pretty quickly if a 2nd drink is in order. No need to make extravagant plans, after all, we have never met!

Man. 42 years old. Zodiac sign: Libra.

Looking for: woman. In age: 39-49

Prologue:Full disclosure, I’m just a regular guy looking for an extra-ordinary girl. Most of the experiences mentioned below required no skill, I just walked out the front door and did it. In fact, I’ But not watching TV, unless downloaded HBO counts.... *** the guy your mom warned you about, but hey, you never listened to her anyway. Love designing and building stuff, travel, cooking, golf, and drinking red wine and scotch. Buckle up. My friends call me when they need a favour, or is it a round of ruthless sarcasm, who can be sure? Enjoy my career which lets me travel all over the lower mainland, but realize there is so much more to this Canadian life. Life is a journey with no fixed destination and one should always be open to the possibilities. I have two awesome kids who I have with me part of the time but still lots of time for that special someone. I am looking for someone to date, not a mom for my kids, they already have a great one. Don’ I like to build stuff out of wood but most of my projects end up a little smaller than the blueprints, until they invent a board stretcher. Worked in earthquake re-construction in Japan for a year. It was a remarkable experience to work abroad & have the opportunity to explore another culture, plus for bonus points Osaka has a beer vending machine every 10 feet. One of my memorable long trips spanned from Kathmandu to Kuta Beach and included getting kicked off Mt. Was in the Exuma Cays last winter- brilliant Caribbean at its best! Love off the beaten path adventure but not opposed to a last minute cheap package getaway to the dirty south. That is, if it’s ***and the city is Budapest. On a typical weekend I am down for almost anything. Love wandering aimlessly in a previously unbeknownst part of town, gallery hopping, live theatre or a concert (a few faves from this year: Craigslist Cantata, Lumineers, Stereophonics), going for a hike (avec pic-a-nic & Catch the odd Whitecaps game live, sports on TV, no thanks. Contrary to popular belief, I am not solely an activity dynamo, and have been known to lounge occasionally, preferably with an old Kubrick/ Scorsese/ Stone/ Linklater flic, some cheese/grapes/chips&dip a big bold red or small batch brew, and mutual foot massages.Quotes I value: •Have the right tools for the job and you are 80% there (me) •I subscribe to the law of contrary public opinion. If everyone thinks one thing, then I say bet the other way.•Nec timo nec supremo (neither fear nor despair). Not sure this translates but a bro wrote it in my highschool yearbook like that ••I never did mind about the little things. (PONR- great movie) •The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese (anon) •It is what it is. (me again) •The cure for anything is saltwater. Sweat, tears, or the sea. (Isaak Dinesen)You should message me if: You are curious about the world around you. You can take a joke and are not easily offended. You are generally happy. The rest is negotiable. As long as we click we don’t need to have all the same interests; boring! Love to be inspired by new ideas with interesting people. So if you are an independent, intelligent, sexy, happy, adventurous lower mainland girl, don’t just sit there, drop me a line and lets blow this popsicle stand! bevvies, beach, etc.
