Merchandising Manager

To facilitate a fantastic site customer journey whilst developing opportunities to continually maximise sales and revenue.


  • Convert registered members into paying customers, ultimately driving conversion rates and therefore revenue
  • Responsibility for the customer journey workflow
  • Maximise on-site promotions, campaigns and product launches
  • Trade in-house products through the websites and where appropriate third party revenues
  • Create innovative promotions and product developments / improvements
  • Responsible for ensuring weekly revenue targets are met for channel
  • Monitor key KPIs and other important metrics across the application and business
  • Develop analytical strategies and website analytics
  • Implement a strong testing programme and act on results from multi-variant testing activity
  • Liaise with all relevant teams across the business to drive implementation of product changes and additions


  • Will be accountable for the set up and smooth delivery of all activity throughout a campaign acting as point of contact for all Ad Ops queries
  • Manage day-to-day campaign management and optimisation including forecasting inventory availability for sales teams
  • Optimisation of all campaigns plus definition and setting of yields and pricing strategies
  • Reporting and trouble shooting
  • Regular reviews and contact with Ad sales manager and suppliers
  • Identify opportunities for advertising innovation and improvement through the use of new technologies, processes and inventory management
  • Develop a display product road map and look into the long term viability of new/existing ad formats
  • Ultimate responsibility for management of 3rd party relationships – Networks, Exchanges and SSP/RTB platforms


  • Degree calibre
  • Experience of an ad operations function and seasoned in campaign management and optimization
  • Solid experience in 3rd party ad serving platforms including troubleshooting setup, discrepancies, rich media implementation – experience of OpenX ideal
  • Experience in RTB environments such as Appnexus, Mediamath, RMX a benefit
  • Understanding of user behaviour and motivations
  • Understanding of the capabilities and requirements of Google Analytics
  • Strong analytical capability with a scientific  marketing approach
  • Knowledge of competitors’ marketing activities and merchandising features
  • Knowledge of previous site developments, marketing activities and their performance
  • Ability to build effective internal relationships, utilise strong influencing skills.
  • Ability to build sound business cases and persuade other team members to buy into projects
  • Personal authority to get projects delivered on time
