About Me

I subscribe to a "Think deeply, speak gently, love much, laugh a lot, word hard, give freely and be kind" way of living, where integrity, honesty, trust, laughter and kindness frame my picture of love, life, levity, and everything that is boldly colored in between. I believe that "coloring outside the lines" promotes greater self-discovery and risk, both of which are extremely important and yes, attractive, sexy and desirable, to me as a writer, educator and most importantly, a parent. When we restrict ourselves to a neatly designed and prescribed, flawless template of how we're supposed to look and behave, we inevitably are not being our authentic selves. For me, to embark on a relationship not being who we are is inevitably destined to fail because in the end, it's based on pretense and falsehood***not the ideal foundation for a loving, lasting relationship. My mission as a special educator is to individualize *** broken and bitter high school kids who have been through serious and often, life threatening traumas in their lives, where school took a back burner to just making it through the day. Our mission as loving and caring educators is to restore their faith in "man/womankind," and convince them how much they matter~~ despite their belief to the contrary~~ to themselves, and the people in their lives who love them. When I'm not trying to make the lives of these kids better, I love to hike, power walk, play with my dogs for hours, blog, read, and sip ridiculously good coffee with ridiculously awesome people. I find intellect extremely attractive .I also believe that you can tell whether a relationship is going to work with one kiss. So much can be said in that one kiss..... I have no set script for a first date other than it happens after some thoughtful, meaningful, and yes, flirtatious conversations, via phone, text, etc., that creates a very welcome flurry of butterflies in my stomach that lets me know that we won't be checking our watches every four minutes once we take the plunge and meet. Outdoor cafes; out-of-the-way coffee shops that at least 'offers' Fair Trade coffee with their other selections; independent book stores; beautiful parks conducive for walking and talking; and if all of that feels right, an "evening" date at a candle-lit pub or wine bar that offers tasty crudites and atmosphere.

Woman. 53 years old. Zodiac sign: Capricorn.

Looking for: man. In age: 50-60

Well, so here I go, first time trying on-line dating. This takes some courage I see. But I'm currently missing out on some of my favorite things: cooking dinner for someone I adore, cuddling on the couch with candles lit watching a movie, planning a trip with someone special, buying that perfect gift just as a nice surprise . . . maybe that's where you come in. About me, I have never had children, and am the "cool aunt" who hangs out plenty with her nieces and nephews. I have a wonderful family and great group of friends, both of which are very important to me. I also have a five-pound yorkie, Louie, who ranks right up there with family. Well, except when he misses the potty pad... ;-) I have an excellent, interesting job. I am kind, caring, warm and affectionate, love to laugh, an optimist, outgoing and social, easy to get along with and not a game player. I am enthusiastic about most everything. I am as dependable as a DeWalt drill or set of Craftsman tools (ha, my brother helped me out with that line.) I am a romantic, and love watching sunsets, cooking dinner together, sitting in front of the fireplace with a nice bottle of wine open, hand holding, receiving unexpected flowers, oh, and really really love when a man surprises me in my driveway with a shovel or huge snow blower after a big snow fall.... ;-) I'm as comfortable in tight jeans, as yoga pants, as formal attire, and enjoy wearing each. I love trying new things, and I don't always color inside the lines...And you? I'm looking for a man who is honest, genuine and trustworthy. I like a man who is confident, fun, honest, attractive, active, and outgoing. I like a man who has a passionate interest in life, knows himself, can express his feelings, and has a strong work ethic. A romantic is really a plus. Ultimately, I would love to meet someone who enjoys similar activities, is happy, and in the same good place in life. I'm looking for a long-term relationship with someone to share my life with, and ideally grow old with, spending winters walking the ocean beaches holding hands. Well, there you have it, it's just that simple. :-) Some of my favorite local spots... Enjoy! Would you like to meet for a glass of wine?

Woman. 55 years old. Zodiac sign: Virgo.

Looking for: man. In age: 52-62

I am an energetic, active, sarcastic, loving-life girl. Summer is my favorite season, around water makes me happy. The only good thing about winter in KS is sitting with someone special in front of a roaring fire. I seldom have the TV on, but make exceptions for collegiate basketball and football and professional football. I am open to new activities, pushing the limit-except of course, jumping out of a completely operational airplane, or tied to a bungee cord and jumping off solid ground.I have a love/hate relationship with running. Often I dread getting started, but the sense of accomplishment when I am finished out-weighs the dread. At one time would only consider the treadmill when it was too cold/hot to run outside, but I admit, I have become a "treadmill whore" of late, pounding the darn thing ***times a week. A couch potato, I am not. The grass does not grow under my feet.I am very active would rather be at the park, at a festival, or just walking around the neighborhood after work, rather than sitting around getting old. They are my strength. My youngest one is following her calling to serve others. My oldest one, her mother's keeper: guiding me, scolding me, praising me, loving me. These girls make me proud.I have re-discovered myself since turning 50, and I LIKE it. This stage of our lives has so much to offer and the time and resources to do them. This is proving to be the best time of my life; the glass ALWAYS half-full, not half-empty. Age is about spirit and soul, not a number. If you are looking for a fixer upper, that's not me. I don't need fixed. If you like your women a little crazy, not me. If your heart is not free and open to share, I am not the one for you.I am in a good place, happy; just wanting to share it with someone. I am looking for a life-long partner. Someone to share life with: our joys , our sorrows, our accomplishments, our failures; to laugh with, to cry with, to work together and play together.;If I asked why me about my troubles, I would have to ask why me about my blessings".I am a blessed woman.

Woman. 51 years old. Zodiac sign: Sagittarius.

Looking for: man. In age: 48-58

I'm 51 years old with 3 grown kids. I am divorced and now looking for some "me" time. Would love to share some of it with someone who has similar interests, loves to laugh and is somewhat spontaneous. I am competitive but more than that I love a challenge. I admire intelligence, humor, a good work ethic and dedication to family and friends. I have 3 dogs so it goes without saying that I am an animal lover. I like to cook, bake, drink good wine (ok- so I also like to, occasionally, smoke a little cigar when I drink beer), spend time with family and friends, etc etc etc. I like all kinds of music. I love sports and am generally pretty easy to get along with.
